30 May 2017 - News

Upnor Castle is an Elizabethan artillery fort built between 1559 and 1567, commissioned by Queen Elizabeth I to protect warships at Chatham’s historic dockyards.

The castle and associated Grade I* listed buildings are surrounded by boundary walls featuring a mixture of stone curtain walling and bricks.  Areas of the boundary walls required sensitive repair and stabilisation work which was carried out in association with English Heritage.
